Volkswagen museum was the last stop on my German car museum tour. Since it’s the only manufacturer that wasn’t located in the South of Germany, I waited for a trip that will at least somehow be close to Wolfsburg.

This time I was 400km away, but had a full day free so I went for it. First impression was: people’s museum for the car of the people. Museum is humble, everything is located on one floor. When I say everything, I mean all the Beetles and VW Buses – they take around 50% of the area.

Did you notice it? Yeah, you did. This wide white monster. It’s a Oettinger 1973 Beetle that mated with a Porsche. I made a bigger story about it here.

Since Käfer is such an iconic car, curators really tried to show it with all those strange private builds and modifications.

This next one seems to represent a portrait of Salvador Dali. Officially it’s called “Kamei”.

When I moved to the other side of the warehouse, I thought I’ll see a same amount of VW Golfs, but there actually were only few of them. Variety here was great.

Last part of the tour was showcasing VW’s motorsport heritage as well as some concept cars and few more wild builds.
