  • NESTE WORLD RX OF LATVIA 2018

Just before the latest edition of World RX event in Latvia, here are the highlights from my last visit in 2018.

  • Neste World RX of Latvia 2017

I was back for another year of World Rally Cross championship round in Latvia. Already before the event I made a bet that Johan Kristoffersson will win this one as well; and I was right – not only Johan got the win, he also secured the driver’s Championship, as well as VW got the manufacturer title. Their cars are on different level this year and it seems that only wet conditions can make the field more equal. Last year it was Sebastian Loeb who got his first and so far, the only, win. This year he made it to the…

  • Monster Energy Rig Riot

First qualifying just ended and I wasn’t sure that anything could be hotter than Timo Scheider’s Fiesta. It was time for the Rig Riot. Monster Girls were already on stage, warming up the crowd. After few intro songs, green confetti fired away and awaited Monster drivers made an appearance. Crowd went wild, mostly because hundreds of different merchandise pieces were thrown into the fan pit – almost a mosh pit at this point. I like shooting Monster Energy Rig Riot, since this is the only place during the weekend where drivers let go of their emotions in public. Sadly Mattias…

  • Is Petter Solberg and Monster Energy a Good Fit?

Let’s talk about the war of energy drinks and Petter Solberg this time. We start with drinks: basically in every motorsport or extreme sport discipline there’s a battle between Red Bull, Monster Energy and Rockstar. Red Bull supports more disciplined or old school athletes, usually champions with many years of experience; Monster Energy concentrates on young guns, athletes with a lot of passion and strong lifestyle. While Red Bull sends people to space, wins F1 titles, WRC, Dakar and many more, Monster is pretty much hungry for the wins, so the situation that happened at the beginning of 2015 got…

  • “Park wasn’t my co-driver, I was his pilot”

Today marks 10 years from the tragic accident that took the life away from Michael “beef” Park. For me it was the period when I was following WRC closely and was cheering Markko Märtin up as a future champion. Unfortunately at the end of 2005 season their car hit a tree at close to 200km/h on SS15 of Wales Rally great Britain and the accident was fatal. After the crash, an emotional Markko said: “Park wasn’t my co-driver, I was his pilot”. Year later, on 20th of June, WRC stars from all over the world came to Tallinn for memorial opening. I believe,…

  • 101 Pictures from the DTM Festival

When you’re not a full-time motorsport photographer, you face a number of difficulties: you don’t know, will you actually get an accreditation or not, you need to find a publication and, usually, you spend own money on travel. Around 10 days before the event I got an email that I’m approved for DTM at Hockenheimring. In this case it’s best not to turn down the opportunity, which I didn’t – so I packed my bags and went to shoot German Touring Masters for the second time in my life. I like Hockenheimring and how it is situated. Comfortable flight to Frankfurt and…
