  • HGK Drift Challenge 2018

Welcome to the Formula D round in Riga.. wait, no.. it’s the HGK Drift Challenge 2018. We’re all familiar with HGK Motorsport and their insane cars, so already for the third year they make their own cozy event. Mostly their drift customers are invited as well as few Formula D guys. This time frenemies Matt Field and Odi Bakchis got acquainted with the fierce Bikernieki circuit. Many agree that after Daigo Saito it was Kristaps Bluss who brought another big change to how Formula D cars are built. Carbon kevlar body panels are becoming the new norm for the sport…

  • Monster Energy at Gatebil Rudskogen festival

Monster Energy supports Gatebil festival for many years now by bringing together international drift and motorsport stars. This year Gatebil veterans like Luke Woodham and Dmitriy Illyuk were joined by Sultan Al-Qassimi, Steve “Baggsy” Biagioni and off-road star Casey Currie. Guys try to put a show on and off track. Close proximity drifting, backwards entries and insane cars is what Monster does best on track. Parties, free energy drinks and Monster Girls in the pits and at the concert area is what they’re famous for during the night. Baggsy brought his new GT-R that was revealed only a week ago…

  • Drift Allstars Estonia // 2016

The past weekend Laitse Rally Park near Tallinn, Estonia welcomed the Drift Allstars championship with open arms, as some of the world’s best drift drivers came together for an explosive and unforgettable 2016 Estonian Drift GP. With a whole host of local wild-card drivers wanting to test their mettle against the international Allstars, it looked like it would be the event of the underdog, as several big names fell early on in the event to unseeded local drivers. However, when the smoke settled, Estonian Kristjan Klemets would find himself lining up against two-time Drift Allstars champion James Deane in the…

  • Gatebil Rudskogen // 2016

Just before the current trip to Gatebil I realised that this would be my fifth time at the event. A small anniversary then. So why do I keep coming back? Since I even didn’t like last year’s event that much. Not to mention that I’m getting more and more introverted with age, so loud parties and 40 000 crowds are usually a no-no to me. Heck, I even bought a pair of noise cancelling headphones recently, just to keep the outside world a bit more away. I can’t really explain it, but every time the dates for next year’s main…

  • Is Petter Solberg and Monster Energy a Good Fit?

Let’s talk about the war of energy drinks and Petter Solberg this time. We start with drinks: basically in every motorsport or extreme sport discipline there’s a battle between Red Bull, Monster Energy and Rockstar. Red Bull supports more disciplined or old school athletes, usually champions with many years of experience; Monster Energy concentrates on young guns, athletes with a lot of passion and strong lifestyle. While Red Bull sends people to space, wins F1 titles, WRC, Dakar and many more, Monster is pretty much hungry for the wins, so the situation that happened at the beginning of 2015 got…

  • BRITISH DRIFT GP // DRIFT ALLSTARS / 2015

First round of Drift Allstars reminded me an EEDC (Eastern European Drift Championship) event in Riga in 2014. There very few drivers, but the quality  of them was on the highest level. Lack of entrants was due to Gatebil event in Sweden and British Championship happening on the same date. Biggest upset for me was the absence of Polish drivers: Pawel Trela, Piotr Więcek,  David Karkosik – we want to see you at every round of DA events. This time round it were Janis Eglite, Luke Fink and “new flying finn” Juha Pöytälaakso who were trying to apply pressure on raging 2014 champion…

  • DRIFT MEMOIRS OF 2014

I live in Estonia, country where drifting is the most popular form of Motorsport. So I’m heavily involved with it and let’s be honest — it’s much more spectacular to photograph drift rather traditional circuit racing. Eastern Europe and Scandinavia host three international drift series: Drift Allstars, Eastern European Drift Championship (EEDC) and North European Zone Drift Championship (NEZ). Scandinavia is also home to the biggest drift festival in the World — Gatebil. International events bring big names from the tire slaying world: in EEDC and Drift Allstars you often enjoy company of Juha Rintanen who was battling with the top guys in Formula…
