  • WRC Neste Rally Finland 2017

    Last time I’ve visited a World Rally Championship event around 5-6 years ago. Back then it was still Sebastian Loeb collecting rally wins and championship titles, but oh boy how it changed. 2017 is a different game overall. WRC cars became faster and adapted, what I call, DTM-styled aerodynamics. It’s a rookie fest out there in terms of drivers, only veterans competing are Ford’s Sebastian Ogier, Toyota’s Jari-Matti Latvala and Hyundai’s Dani Sordo.     Ever since I’ve first visited a World Rally Cross event, I wanted to come back for more. This racing discipline is so packed with high adrenaline drama, that it’s impossible to not to ask for more. Round in Riga got on my radar from the moment World RX organisers published the calendar for their 2016 season.     “Park wasn’t my co-driver, I was his pilot”

    Today marks 10 years from the tragic accident that took the life away from Michael “beef” Park. For me it was the period when I was following WRC closely and was cheering Markko Märtin up as a future champion. Unfortunately at the end of 2005 season their car hit a tree at close to 200km/h on SS15 of Wales Rally great Britain and the accident was fatal. After the crash, an emotional Markko said: “Park wasn’t my co-driver, I was his pilot”.
