  • Drift Masters GP of Latvia 2018

Drift Masters GP, biggest and wildest drift event in Europe. For the 3rd round the show moved to Riga, to the famous Bikernieki circuit. As with previous event I made a vlog together with my usual visual report. Hope you enjoy it and find somthing interesting there. Obviously I’m a noob in the fiend and just try different methods as I go forward. https://youtu.be/Ym_tUPucM1E In terms of photography, I mentioned this on the Wlog, I’m a bit tired of Bikernieki. I come here every year and it’s very hard to produce original content. I push myself and try to go to…

  • Driftime 10 Aastat

Time flies. Everything changed in 10 years: back then I was just finishing university, James Deane was 17 years old, James Deen was 22 and James Dean would be 54. Drifting in all European countries was on a very grassroots level. Even Formula D was held only for two years. Estonian drag racing was on a rise before, but was declining, rally as well – drifting came between the Markko Märtin and Ott Tänak eras. We did have a vibrant street car culture: plenty of BMWs were roaring the streets and few guys turned their attention at drifting. I had…

  • HGK Drift Challenge 2018

Welcome to the Formula D round in Riga.. wait, no.. it’s the HGK Drift Challenge 2018. We’re all familiar with HGK Motorsport and their insane cars, so already for the third year they make their own cozy event. Mostly their drift customers are invited as well as few Formula D guys. This time frenemies Matt Field and Odi Bakchis got acquainted with the fierce Bikernieki circuit. Many agree that after Daigo Saito it was Kristaps Bluss who brought another big change to how Formula D cars are built. Carbon kevlar body panels are becoming the new norm for the sport…

  • Baltic Drift Championship // Riga / 2018

After long winter rest I find myself at a familiar track – Bikernieki circuit in Riga. It’s a fresh tradition to start the Baltic championship at this infamous track. Eline Berke does a great job, always bringing full house of spectators and more than 100 drivers. But don’t get your hopes up, most of the drivers are pro-am or street league. Only 21 or 22 drivers were fighting for top honours, and that is from 3 baltic countries. Why is that? Well, for sure few teams didn’t manage to finish the car yet, few guys may be interested only in…

  • HGK Drift Challenge 2017

HGK Motorsport with Kristaps Bluss in particular made the best drift showcase event there is. Beautiful sunny day, action from the early morning and unforgettable battles. Exclusively for the blog I went a bit more behind the scenes/behind the backs/behind the track to show you some portraits, snaps and outtakes. Sadly I couldn’t take more pictures of Dennis Häggblom’s S2000, since he made a mistake in Top 32 and he took the role of spectator. S2000 is sicker than it ever was, proudly wearing that new carbon body. Composite materials was the unofficial theme of the event – three HGK…

  • Baltic Drift Cup 2016 // Round 1 / Riga

After a long winter period the Baltic Drift Cup is back and it’s stronger than ever. First round was held in Riga on the famous drift “hub” – Bikernieki, but not where you think.. This time the classical high-speed course was ditched in favour of a flowing altitude-changing forest track that is called “Witch Kettle”. 39 drifters from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania tried to tame this beast of a track. Blind corners were proving bravery of each and everyone and it showed: drivers with fewer practice took a more comfortable and safe trajectory. As always, new season brought new cars,…

When sun sets low and racing stops, you can usually find these tired racing beasts at the garage or in the pits. It’s a good time to make a few spontaneous snaps of them. • Estonian Drift GP // Drift Allstars / Outtakes

When an event is close to your home, you’re able to devote more time to it. Especially when it’s one of the highlights of the year. This time I was writing the article for Speedhunters, I feel that I covered Estonian drift scene quite well without being boring or writing too much about it – it wasn’t a complete history of course, but probably I will try myself on something like that for the 10th Anniversary (I have all the material from Day 1). You can read Speedhunters story and check the main pictures HERE. Below you can see my…
