I enjoyed this model car show probably more than any other car show I’ve ever been on. It’s about the scale: show is compact, but the number of exciting cars is 10 times more than on a normal car event, because every builder (gluer? :) ) wants to put together a great kit with history. In one room I was able to experience half of DTM history, see rally cars from every era, look at modern and historic Formula 1 cars and many more.

I wasn’t able to see the real Ford GT LM car, but hey, here it is – precise in every detail.

Many builders also try to build a scene around the car, You’ll see many examples like this GT500 Cobra in Detroit-ish.

Japanese car culture was the least represented, but even so, few Liberty Walk models, Rocket Bunny kits and RWB Porsches were present.

Attention to details, even the wires behind the wheel.. ugh!

This is the 1/24 scale replica of 100th R5 Fiesta built by M-Sport. Car was done in silver, wrapped in gold for the presentation and unwrapped the next day and sent to new owner.

I remember it as it was yesterday. First car magazine I ever bought featured a DTM Astra – just like this one.

Even though I have few model kits at home, my hands got scratchy when I saw the variety here. In the end I found a limited Moon Eyes VW Van kit that was slightly overpriced, so that put me back to earth and I remembered that I didn’t have any space in my luggage after the Hot Wheels Convention that was held here one day before.

There even was a miniature shop

Just now, while writing this, I noticed that there was a BMW Art Car on the left. Even this legendary Le Mans lively is possible to miss when there’s so much variety on one table. I would photograph a different Group 5 BMW, but this one was totally missed.. and this was only the second row of tables, but I already had haze in the eyes :)

They should just have a contest on “Who Built the Best 911”.

This creation got my virtual vote for the best scene! I just love how this UFO landing spot was made.

Time for another story: in 1994 Mercedes ran a special green livery on their C class Mercedes. It looked green when sun was shining in one direction, but car became blue, when angle of the sun shifted. Idea was that the car would enter the corner green and exit blue. Holger, builder of this model somehow acquired this paint and here is the result – car becomes blue when you you point the flashlight in different direction.
