I believe most of freelance photographers know that feeling when you get a call or an email from customer saying that in couple of days they need you at an event and then you’re just left there living the rest of the days thinking how cool the weekend is going to be.
This time I was invited to Rudskogen Motorfestival as a cameraman for Superbike Round 1 & 2 finals, so the rest of the time I spent on the track photographing cars in action.
Rudskogen Motorfestival is a growing automotive event in Norway, usually held in first part of September. It’s not as massive event as Goodwood thou, but it attracts lots of fans from different types of motorsports. This year program looked very attractive for every pistonhead. Stunt bike show, airshow, Shortcars, superbikes, GT class cars. This year event organizers brought some rare and desired cars like Lamborghini Miura – that was made specially for Frank Sinatra, Lamborghini Countach, Lamborghini Diablo, DeTomaso Pantera, DeTomaso Mangusta (only 401 produced).
But the main and hottest part of the event for me was the possibility to see legends of Le Mans 24h driving on the track – two Silk Cut JAGUAR XJR – 9’s, NISSAN R90CK, FORD ROUSH MUSTANG and PORSCHE 935. Those cars look insanely good even in the pits and much more agressive while in action on the circuit, just the sound made my heart beat faster. After this I definitely want to go to see Le Mans24h race in the near future. :)
The finishing part of the event was a drift show, which covered everything in smoke. It was a bit sad that they invited just few drifters to the event, because it was a bit boring to watch when one driver drifts along the track while the others are changing tires in the pits. In general it was a really cool and breathtaking event with a lot of action, adrenaline and loads of car enthusiasts that are already looking forward to come back to this event next year. Same as me.
